The Maceration Process

The maceration process (extraction of the resinoids and essential oils) from the herbs) takes about 6 months for the authentic DaoDi powdered herb kits and 1 year for the whole dried herb kits. The powdered herb kits have a larger surface area for extraction. Hence the active ingredients in the herbs will be extracted more quickly.

How to make up Dit Da Jow Northern Shaolin

Add half of your premixed alcohol mixture 25% V/V (alcohol / distilled water) or 40% V/V Vodka (alcohol / distilled water). to your wide necked 5 Litre glass jar and add your herbs Fill to the top with premixed alcohol mixture 25% V/V (alcohol / distilled water) or 40% V/V Vodka. Place lid on the jar, tighten and seal round with tape or parafilm. Shake the jar until the herbs are mixed throughout the liquid and store in a cool dark place. The jar should be thoroughly shaken 2 to 3 times a week.

The 116g dry herbal kit should produce 8 x 100ml bottles of Dit Da Jow liniment and the 462g dry herb kit should produce 35 x 100ml bottles of Dit Da Jow liniment after the herbs have been filtered off.

Surgical spirit (99% ethanol).

105g /1 litre kit use 357ml of surgical spirit and make up to 1000ml with distilled water.

420g / 5 litre kit. Use 1800ml of surgical spirit make up to 5 litres with distilled water.

The 105g dry herbal kit should produce 8 x 100ml bottles of Dit Da Jow liniment and the 420g dry herb kit should produce 35 x 100ml bottles of Dit Da Jow liniment after the herbs have been filtered off.
