Triggerpunktsterapi

Trigger points are spots or areas of the muscle tissue that can cause pain, often this pain radiates to other areas of the body. These areas of tenderness and pain are thought to lead to certain illnesses. Trigger point therapy involves stimulation and treatment of these painful and tender points to relieve pain in the immediate and other areas. The treatment involves initial light pressure to the points and as the muscle tissue starts to relax under pressure more pressure is applied. The process is repeated with or without stretching until the active triggers deactivate and do not cause anymore discomfort.

This type of treatment is an alternative to traditional acupuncture and can be used on people who don’t like needles, but would like the benefits of acupuncture. The treatment involves rubbing, pressing and stimulating the acupuncture points. These points can also be stimulated by heat using the Moxa herb.
